A Place describing a small geographical area—typically something like a county. These pages are concerned with relevant historical information, landmarks, and resources for research.

The modern name of the Locale is used; if, in the past, another name was used or political boundaries were different, the page should describe how the modern area was referred to and affiliated historically. Redirects may point from an old to a new name.

Locales are contained by Territories. By convention, the name of a Locale ends with a comma followed by the name of the enclosing Territory.
